Okay, I know they've said they're not going to do another DC/Marvel crossover, but you gotta admit, this would be too adorable for words.

A Mini Marvels/Tiny Titans crossover.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! THIS TOTALLY SUCKS! WHY? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?

So the good news? I'm getting my Misfit series. The bad news? JUDD WINICK'S WRITING IT!

It gets worse. The art? Liefield.

Next time you see me, I will have no feet, lots of pouches, and AIDS.

Cell Phones

Hey people! Miss me?

You may have noticed I sort of vanished. There isn't really a good reason. I just kinda stopped updating and writing reviews. Am I back now? Maybe. This is just something I do for fun, so I might review, and I might just post random stuff. Like right now? I've really got one important thing on my mind.

The cell phones in Teen Titans...what the hell?

They're so weird! I mean, I guess they're supposed to be Titan Cell Phones, so they're in a T or something, but...that's so awkward! And they wouldn't really fit well in a pocket! It doesn't make sense! Also, if they're in the shape of a T, they should be called communicators or something. And why are they so ugly? Why do they even have communicators like that at all? Don't people usually just have little ear pieces or something? That's seriously uncool.

Comic reviews (and zombies)

Okay, I finally decided to screw all those comics I forgot to review and start this week's review early!

Countdown #11

Yeah, I've started buying Countdown again. But this was annoying. The cover had Piper on it, then he showed up once in the entire thing! Stupid. But I enjoyed the Holly, Mary and Harley stuff. I didn't really care about Karate Kid and Una, and Jimmy looked hotter than he probably should have. Also, Stompa rocks.

Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century #11

Sort of an interlude between Season 1 and 2 of the TV show. Season 2 Brainy's kind of hot, and is...um...making simulations of Superman. This is canon. In the beginning of S2, Brainy is doing a simulation of dying in Superman's arms. Yeah...

Tiny Titans #1

Two words: Aw, Adorable!

Seriously, Rose and Raven complaining about their dads teaching in the school, and Robin trying to figure out if Speedy runs fast (what is up with that name, anyways?) and BB turning into a dog to hang out with his puppy, it was just so cute!

My favorite part was when Cassie showed up wearing jeans and everyone teased her about it, then the next time she started wearing an actual costume and everyone else was in jeans. It was just cute.

And little Babs hanging out with the Titans! And discussing how cute Robin is! I'm so leaving this around the computer room in conspicuous places. And making fun of her for thinking a giant jelly monster is cute.

Gotham Underground #5

AAAARGH!!! STEPH, ARE YOU BACK OR NOT?!? IT ISN'T NICE TO TEASE!!!

Booster Gold #0

Aww, crap, Ted ain't gonna make it, is he? He's gonna be deadified again and Booster's gonna get depressed. Great.

Anyways, Booster and Ted are still completely gay. I'm sorry, but they just are. Ted's willing to sacrifice himself so that Booster can get his sister back, and Booster's all "Then I'd never meet you, Ted."

Yep, gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide.

But this was cool. I liked the Parallax fight and the visit to the 25th century. I think it's too bad that Ted and Jaime don't get to hang out together because that'd be sort of awesome.

Also, Ted making a joke about Booster "rear-ending" Barry? Awesome. Booster telling Ted to grow up? Awesomer.

Dan had the best line ever, though. "We're five grown men dressed in bright colors inside a clear plastic bubble set against a rainbow background, Jaime. They saw us."

I love this series. And I think that we should keep all the other Beetles around and call the series Booster and the Beetles. How cool would that be?

Aww, Ted doesn't get to see Jaime's WWTKD? sign. It'd be kind of awesome if he did.

Bat Lash #3

I still love this. There are cowboys! And people missing impossible shots! That might not sound very impressive, but it's actually kind of a rare thing. Give someone a target the size of a barn door? They've got a normal chance of missing. A thin rope from several meters away? Psh, I could make that. Though I'd probably just bounce over, cut the rope, and bounce back instead of trying. Much easier.

Wonder Woman #17

There are three things that are really really awesome.

1.	Badass Wonder Woman.
2.	Etta Candy.
3.	Gail Simone!

This comic had ALL OF THE ABOVE! And Etta's Diana's friend! Holiday Gal! Eeeeee!

Seriously, Gail, never, ever change. And give us more Etta! I'd sell Peter Parker's marriage to team-up with Etta Candy! She's way cooler than Babs.

Though she doesn't look very fat at all. Oh well. She still kicks ass.

Oh, yeah, the other stuff. Diana kicks mega ass of course, and that weird Alkyone lady seems to have drowned. Of course, there was no body, though. When will people learn? Until you've got a corpse, they aren't dead. When you have a corpse, they sometimes still aren't dead. When you've got a corpse but it's walking around and asking for your brains, that's a zombie, and you probably should start to run.

Why There Are No Reviews And Sean McKeever

Sean McKeever's Leaving!

I dunno, he could have gotten better. Maybe if he's just focusing on Teen Titans he will stop sucking and go back to being good. Wonder who we'll get now. Gail, you're not too busy with Wonder Woman, are you? Want to take us back? Please?

You may have wondered where I've been for the past week or so. Well, the answer isn't simple. You see, after reading Blue Beetle #23, I asked myself: What Would Ted Kord Do? The answer, of course, was go to KooeyKooeyKooey and build a resort.

I don't want to talk about it. Suffice to say that I really gained a new appreciation for my superpowers. Anyways, I'll probably have a giganto-mega-review up at some point soon.

More late comics, cause I'm cool like that.

This week was AWESOME! Mostly. I’d like to call it the week of the living dead. Why? Because, um, there were so many dead characters who were alive?

Also, yes, I'm late, but hey! I put scans in!

Robin #170

Okay, Steph isn't actually alive, but there are so many hints! There's this Violet chick, and Tim saw that girl with the blond hair and the <strike>eggplant</strike> purple bracelet, and you know, he mentioned the memorial.

Something Steph-related is clearly happening. Yeah, I'm kinda stating the obvious, but it's gonna be interesting. And I don't think even Didio is stupid enough to completely destroy the hearts and dreams of tons of fans. Of course, I've been wrong before.

Also, Ives! Ives rocks so hard. He's cute and geeky, and this should be really good. Maybe we'll get more Tim-the-geek with him back.

Though I actually would have preferred them to bring back Bernard if they were gonna get a random old character back. A good way to judge a character's popularity is always fanfiction, and if you go to the dcfic_index, you can see that Bernard has 20 fics and Ives has none.

Still, Ives is cool, though I do wonder when Tim's been talking about him. Zoanne says he's been talking about him "all the time," but I haven't heard about him since (I think) Tim's sixteenth birthday party. And if he's had appearances after that, I don't remember 'em at all.

Also, Tim's history as a skateboarder comes to light! He doesn't actually skateboard, but he uses it as an excuse for his black eye.

Speaking of black eyes, the art in this comic book is unbelievably good. Robin's hair is really pretty. So is the rest of him, I mean, but his hair is just…guh.

But my favorite panel is, of course, the one where Robin runs Violet over on a giant bowling ball. Literally.

This comic would be worth the entire three bucks, just for that panel. Of course, the rest was good too, but that panel was the best.

Booster Gold #6

So, um, is it canon now that Booster Gold and the second Blue Beetle are completely and totally gay for each other? Like I mean, is it? Because, um, I can't really think of another way to read this comic as the two of them being completely gay for each other. Just look at this.

See? Totally gay. Booster wants to hear Ted's laugh. See him smile. He's missed it.

Awww.

Anyways. Rip continues to be a jerk in this. And there's a cute homage where Booster and the Beetles are walking across an inexplicable crosswalk in Rip's lab in a clear homage to the Beatles. Isn't that clever? Beatles and Beetles!

Anyways, it's really lucky that Future Beetle Man has a "solid time softener" (yeah, I don't get it either) so he can go back in time and pluck Ted away. Hooray!

There's a "Look! Time travel!" montage where we see some cool team-up things like Elastic Man, Batman, and Sherlock Holmes investigating stuff together, and Dan asks about who the hell this Ted guy is anyway?

Good thing you asked, Dan! Time for some exposition!

Um, I'm not sure if Booster's just making Ted cooler in his memory or if current DC canon states that Ted was basically the most competent hero ever. I mean, Ted's good, of course, and he's done his share of world saving, and he's a genius inventor, but he was partially responsible for KooeyKooeyKooey.

Also, why is there no Black Canary in the JLI picture?

Has that costume been retconned out too? Because that's a retcon I can actually support. Heh.

Also, have the Superbuddies been retconned away? There was no mention of them as either Ted or Michael's affiliations. If they have, it is a loss to canon everywhere! Though I guess Max is too likeable in it to support the MAX WAS ALWAYS EVIL AND WE HATED HIM OMG! theory.

Ah, at least Booster finally admits that they lived down to expectations. And Max can control heads, except he gets a nosebleed. Eh, whatever.

Max is doing his LOOK HOW AWESOME I AM I'VE PLANNED FOR EVERYTHING speech, and then Booster and the Beetle burst through the window.

And lookee thar, Booster's still gay.

Considering the circumstances, Ted takes it all in stride remarkably well. I guess when you're in a tight spot, you don't complain about your supposedly injured teammate, your dead mentor, and two guys dressed up in shiny blue armor showing up to help you fight.

Anyway they fight, and there's some cute snark.

The Scarab says "They tried to kill Blue Beetle. Let's break their skulls." And Jaime's like, uh, no. But it's cute.

This is a good break to talk about Jaime. Most of the Scarab's blurbs say the exact same thing as Jaime did. Which is lame. Don't they realize there are geeks out there who have managed to decipher the Scarab alphabet? It's not that hard.

Jaime's worried about his future, but luckily, Time Softener (TM) has the ability to remove nasty stains from time without damaging the rest of the cloth! Order yours today!

Everything's well and good till the OMACs start showing up. Oh crap, OMACs. What'll we do? Conveniently, we've got three dudes with Scarabs just waiting to short them out.

Now we get to the part where Ted gets to be hardcore. Max does his whole "Join me, Ted! Together, you and I could rule the WORLD!" Insert insane laughter.

"Rot in Hell, Max," snarls Ted. "I'll always love Booster, and not you."

"You must pay the price for your lack of vision!" Max says.

"No!" Booster says. "Not again!"

Max shoots, and Booster throws himself in front of Ted in an act of supreme stupidity. I mean, for one thing, he could have just pushed Ted down, and for another, doesn't he have a forcefield? Booster's never been known for his brains, though.

Now we get to a part I like to call "Ted Smash."

This is why it's not a good idea to hurt Booster when Ted's around.

Luckily, the bullet passed through the space between Booster's goggles and Booster's face without so much as scratching Booster's skin. The goggles were also designed so well that the shattered material didn't hurt Booster at all either! Wow, that's one well-designed costume! Though you'd think it'd be easier just to, y'know, make it bullet-proof.

Yay! Ted's alive! Booster's happy! The Time Sphere isn't big enough for Booster and Beetle to have "welcome back to life" sex, but it's all good.

Though that doesn't explain why I've got this little feeling of on-coming doom. Don't kill my hopes and dreams, please?

Birds of Prey #114

Wow, what an issue! Did you see that guys? I got my own speech captions! I was narrating! How totally and completely awesome is that?

You know you're an accomplished character when you get your own captions.

Besides the captions, I didn't make out too well in this issue. Babs snapped at me, forced me to wash dishes, and broke my ankle. And let's not forget Black Alice.

Freaking Black Alice. Why the hell does she get to be an actual member while I'm not?

Let's use our ever-useful dcfic_index gauge.

See? Five Misfit fics and only one Black Alice fic! I AM CLEARLY MORE AWESOME, HERE!

Wait a minute…that fic is one of my fics! Who the hell's been shipping me and Black Alice? That is just wrong, people. Wrong!

Right, back to the reviews. So we also got drunk Helena and Zinda drinking and not taking part in the lovely bar fight going on around them. Then there's Zinda and the Killer Shark dude, who apparently's a really long ago romantic interest who is evil. Stay good, Zinda! We already lost one awesome blond chick to the wiles of marriage! Don't leave me and Huntress all alone with Oracle and Black Alice!

COMICS!

Agh...sorry I'm late. <strike>Babs</strike> "Miss Gordon's" had me washing dishes all week. I'll do this weeks comics later.

Bat Lash #2

This series is still totally cool. Dominique kicks rapist butt by stabbing him with a giant metal hook. It’s like, some guy tries to shove her in a refrigerator and she thwaks him in the nuts with the roast beef. So cool. And she and Bat are adorable together. And bears! There were freaking bears! And the art’s still so pretty! And Bat’s little bro’s totally cute. Bat Lash is awesome, end of story.

Wonder Girl #5

I…didn’t hate the art quite as much this time. I mean, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. Maybe I’m getting used to it.

Now that I can stop gouging my eyes out to avoid looking at this comic, I really like it. Highlights in this issue included Cassie being the leader in the attack. It’s like Young Justice again. It’s even more like Young Justice because Anita and Cissie are fighting with Tim and Cassie. Of course, Supergirl and the Olympian are new, and there’s no Bart or Kon or Slobo or Snapper Carr, but hey, I’ll take the YJ cameos where they come. I’m pretty sure J. Torres is a Young Justice fan. Between this and the things he’s slipped into Teen Titans Go!, it’s pretty certain. But yeah, I loved that.

Also, there was Hercules bondage! C’mon, I’m not the only one who saw that.

It annoyed me that yet another New God died, but I’m not surprised. It’s the dopey Death of the New Gods thing. Blah.

Green Arrow and Black Canary #4

I meant to stop buying this. I really did. I’m actually sort of surprised I did buy it. It’s probably because Judd Winick or no, Cliff Chiang’s art is breathtaking. I could look at it forever. Preferably not a panel with Ollie in it, because even Chiang can’t make Ollie hot. Okay, I might just be biased because he stole Dinah from us, but ew, the beard is gross.

Connor is brain-dead. I don’t know if Winick knows anything about medicine, but people don’t get better from being brain-dead in general. When someone’s brain-dead, it’s time to let them die.

Then again, people don’t generally get better from being dead either, and, well…

I guess what I’m saying is Connor should probably either have been in a coma or actually dead. I guess both of those seem to give him more of a chance to come back from.

…I sound insane, don’t I?

The Spirit #12

Words cannot describe how awesome this is. The art is just stunning and the story, well, apparently it was adopted from Will Eisner, but Darwyn Cooke did an amazing job and I’ll miss him on it.

Has anyone else noticed my reviews tend to be longer when I don’t like the comic? I guess it’s more fun to complain.

Green Lantern Corps #20

Um, is it just me or did Guy and Kyle just start dating and move in together?

I mean, come on.

“I want a big change.” “…meet me for Thai in half an hour?”

See what I mean? Then they move to Oa together and live happily ever after in their own bar.

Poor Tora. But she’s still got Bea.

Nightwing #140

Since when has Dick been “Richard?” That was weird. And I didn’t really get the whole thing about Captain Boomerang’s tunic and the wings, but that’s okay.

Dick skydives to family meetings! How awesome is that? I want to sky dive someday. Maybe “Miss Gordon” will let me…wait, no. She’d never let me.

Speaking of “Miss Gordon,” is Superman gonna tell Dick off too? Because he totally looks like he’s about to. Maybe he’s just going to all the second generation Bats. Except Jason Todd because he’s hanging out on a different world.

Teen Titans Lost Annual #1

You know, just recently I was thinking about Kennedy and I was wondering what the world would be like if he were still alive. Then I get this annual.

Yes folks, it turns out that Kennedy is not only alive, but fighting with aliens! Really, big relief for me.

Basically, here’s what happened:

Robin is the only person who sees Kennedy kidnapped by aliens who look oddly like the Beatles. He turns to the only people who will believe him…namely, his team. They go on a wacky adventure (without Aqualad, but that’s okay because no one cares about Aqualad.) Donna falls in love with a hairy hippy alien with three other wives (who he wouldn’t have cared for as much as he cared for Donna, of course) and Robin saves the day with the help of a hat!

Also, Speedy flies around on a giant flying arrow surfboard.

Bob Haney is my new hero. He also has the first page where he describes the Titans…I can’t do it justice in descriptions.

The art is awesome too! It’s old-looking, of course, but it’s so cool!

And Speedy flies around on a giant flying arrow surfboard. I said that already? Well, it’s so sweet that it should be said lots and lots of times. Everyone, buy this if you haven’t already. It’s amazing.

Blah

Boring week this week. I got only two new things. I liked both the things I got, though.

The All-New Atom #19.

No longer written by Gail, alas. Still, Ryan is awesome, and I found the albino elf girl to be adorable. Even if she did try to molest Ryan, but to be fair, Ryan had asked her to go for his belt. The cannibalism was a little icky, but I really liked this anyways. Icy Town is insane, man.

Teen Titans: Year One #1.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

The art her was adorable, the kids amusing, and everything great! I really want to see more. I loved Wally and Dick hanging out at Wally's school, Donna looking for Diana and squeeing over boys, and poor Aqualad being terrified of fish. Must be hard being afraid of fish and living in the ocean.

Batman, though? Batman's a dick. I mean, we all knew it, but man. He totally smacked Robin! Geeze!

But yeah, I really can't wait for more.

Now that those two reviews are done, Look! Fanart! neroman drew me reading comics. Isn't that cool?

While I'm on the topic, museofspeed took my Chicks of Prey idea and ran with it. Check it out!

Comic Reviews!

I’m back! Happy New Year and all that jazz!

For Christmas, I wanted to go out on missions and get my own series. Or find out why my future evil self is blond. Or get more Misfitarangs.

I got socks. I think Oracle may be evil.

Green Lantern #26

I’ve heard Green Lantern’s supposed to be an amazing series now. I kind of missed Sinestro Corps because I am lame like that, so now I’ve gotta wait for the Trade Paperback. Anyways, I kind of didn’t get what was going on in this because of that. What are Alpha Lanterns? Are they like normal Lanterns, only murderous? Do they pound their chests a lot? Are there also Beta Lanterns?

The Hal and Sinestro thingy was cool, though.

Teen Titans Go! #50

This was called “Graduation Day,” and the cover is very, very reminiscent of the cover of Young Justice #50. Alas, for the days when people were not afraid to smile in the DCU.

That being said, this had very little to do with Young Justice. Robin had Chicken Pox. He wore an awesome sick Robin uniform, complete with shorts. Not short shorts, but shorts nonetheless. It’s particularly funny because no one gets chicken pox anymore. There’s a vaccination! Guess J. Torres forgot or ignored that.

Still, a cute issue, and as is appropriate for a fiftieth issue, it is a kind of turning point. Titans will have tons of leaders now, apparently.

The Flash #235

The main storyline was okay, I guess. Cover had nothing to do with anything but hey, that’s practically expected. There were some fights. Wally handled Jai knowing that he’s gonna die really well. But it wasn’t that interesting.

The cool part was the side storyline that’s been going on. It’s all about this weird planet that Flashes have been randomly going to with aliens that look a little like humanoid donkeys. This issue had Wally going with Impulse!

That’s right, Impulse! Not Kid Flash, not the Flash, Impulse! Bart, the cute kid who never thinks things through. It was awesome. He made things blow up, but somehow everything worked out! And there was a donkey Kid Flash! Uh…S’kidd-Flash. And Bart had a thought bubble illustration! Just like old times. Seriously, why does DC suck so much these days?

X-Men: First Class #7

Kay, I still love this series, but this story line? Didn’t make much sense. They start out not having any powers and being attacked by a few gazillion sentinels. Exactly where we left off last time.

Suddenly, they have SUPER MUTANT POWERS! Their normal powers, only a gazillion times stronger! Jean can move anything and fly! Scott can control his eyes! Warren can heal stuff! Hank’s really strong! Bobby’s got mad ice skillz! Professor Xavier doesn’t want to talk anymore!

They save Wanda and Pietro and Jean rebuilds the jet with her mind. They go back to the mansion where it turns out that it’s all because of green goo. No, I’m serious, that’s what it’s from. Green goo.

Jean and the Professor fix it and they send the goo into outer space.

There’s also an anime-tastic picture of Scott controlling his powers so you can see his pretty red eyes.

So yeah, kind of interesting, but weird. And there were Jean becomes phoenix hints laced in. She was getting used to being all powerful.

Teen Titans #54

…

What?

Seriously, I didn’t get most of this issue. I’m not even going to go there.

I liked the beginning, though. Bart is awesome. He’s actually something like in character here! He and Jaime team up against Starro, and he makes quips! No one makes quips anymore. Tragic, really.

Cassie and Tim make a sucky couple.

Tim is a slut. Maybe more of a slut than Dick.

Seriously, in the end there he’s making out Cassie and Miss Martian! I’ll bet he’s still with Zoanne too.

Some of the art was butt ugly.

I loved the last page though. Naked Bart and Kon! And also naked two random girls!

The worst part is, we still haven’t figured out why my evil future self has blond hair. Apparently, a future issue of Birds of Prey will explain it.

Gotham Underground #3

Batman can kick butt with one hand while bleeding to death. And he can breath in space.

Also…SPOILER? Seriously, Robin, if you’d seen the solicits you wouldn’t be surprised at all. Except she’s actually “Violet” or something stupid. Violet in an eggplant costume. Huh.

Babs’ security system is Wildcat. 'Nuff said.

Blue Beetle #22

This series is the best thing ever. Beetle yells at the people he’s rescuing from lava, then wonders whether or not he should apologize. He tells the people he’s rescuing that he’s been having a bad day, then gives a nice, concise recap for the readers just joining us now! Or people who’ve forgotten, whatever. Point is, it’s really worked in well.

Then Dani (whose name might be Danni, we’re not sure) talks about slash on the internet because of her new meds. And they test the Bug’s capability by diving into a volcano! Because diving into a volcano without tests is SCIENCE!

Jaime’s mom and dad are awesome.

The Scarab is sarcastic.

Tovar the Lava King is lovely. He has one of the best quotes I’ve seen. “Less Talk! More vengeance!”

You know how I feel about vengeance. Especially the dark kind.

The Reach have a really good plan. They’re going to slowly put everyone under mind control and in a century, they’d take over Earth. Without Jaime’s interference, they’d probably have gotten away with it, too. That’s how subtle their plan is.

But Jaime is going after them! So is the Scarab! Because the Scarab is a friendly piece of evil alien technology!

I love this comic.

Hello, this is Misfit’s guardian. She had a really tough week for several reasons that I am not at liberty to discuss. She asked me to write about her magazines, though. Apparently “like, almost two” people are expecting her to review them.

I would like to first say that these stories are mostly fictional, and we do not actually know anything about the people mentioned. I mean, the idea that Bruce Wayne is Batman? Ridiculous. I’ve met him a few times and he isn’t nearly smart enough. I’ll try to do my best to ignore the glaring inconsistencies and untruths in these comics when I review them, however.

Birds of Prey #113

I know I said I’d ignore the complete disregard to facts, but I just would like to point out that we don’t even know that Oracle exists, let alone if it is a man, a woman, or a computer program. I fear Misfit may not realize exactly how inaccurate these stories are.

That aside, this was alright, I suppose. Although I don’t think even Misfit is stupid enough to press a button in a giant death machine. And Superman seemed a bit more Bat than Super in this. The art was lovely, though.

Catwoman #74

I like Selina’s new haircut, but besides that, I wasn’t very impressed. They’ve introduced a new villain, but we aren’t going to see how that plays out because they’re sending Catwoman to the Salvation Run planet. Even though she’s supposedly one of the good guys. Hmm.

Detective Comics #839

The Resurrection of Ra’s al Ghul concludes in an entirely unsatisfactory way. The climatic battle between Ra’s al Ghul and Batman is interrupted by monks. No one ends up winning. It seems the writers decided that they ought to reference the fact that it’s Christmas, so they add a pointless bit at the end where the Bats have turned from a crime fighting team to a happy family. Over what might have been fifteen minutes, or an hour at most.

Justice League of America #16

From the cover of this magazine, you’d think that the Tangent Flash would be heavily featured in this comic, but she shows up on one page. The Atom, who is a major part of the comic, isn’t on the cover at all.

Black Canary was portrayed poorly too. The idea that she would wait for John to free her from the basement is ludicrous. She almost never uses her Canary Cry in battle, and she wouldn’t have had to do much to free herself from a basement. And while I’m on the topic of Canary, she doesn’t look at all like the drawings of her here. No woman does. I honestly doubt the artist has ever seen a real woman.

I did enjoy the short Christmas story at the end, but I would rather have read either an entire Holiday Special or read more about the Flash than the short glimpse given here. All in all, a disappointment.

Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century #9

This was adorable. I loved when Brainiac-5 asks Superman to hit him as hard as he could. Brainy, of course, flies through several walls. He calls Superman “Kal-El,” and Superman, who doesn’t know much about his past at that point, says, “Kal-who?” Highly enjoyable.

The Search for Ray Palmer: Superwoman/Batwoman

Although the idea is somewhat interesting, the execution was somewhat lacking. There is nothing remotely interesting about these characters other than the fact that their genders are reversed.

I wasn’t very impressed with the art, either. One panel in particular showed Batwoman kicking Wonder Man with a leg far longer than anatomically possible. Also, Plastic Woman was disturbing.

The female Flash and Aquawoman were both very attractive, though.

Next week, Misfit will most likely be back. I can’t say I’ll miss doing this. I might have to have a talk with her about the difference between fictional and real first.

#%&@$ Computers!

I didn’t end up buying Countdown Arena because I flipped through it and it totally sucked. Total yuck deaths. Next week has Justice Riders Diana in it, though, so I might get it. Or at least, you know, look at it. If she dies, I’m going to do something really drastic. Like, write an angry letter, or something.

Nightwing #139

So when I saw the preview for this I’ll admit, I was a little worried. It looked like another fake cliffhanger, and you know I hate those. But it wasn’t. Or it sort of was, but it was still good. I want this Fabian Nicieza to write Nightwing always and forever. It was a really nice reminder that there still are people out there that care for Robin and are alive. And when Robin decides not to go crazy, there’s a really sweet four panels of Dick and Tim hugging, and no matter what the people at scans_daily say, I insist that it isn’t slashy. It was a really nice brotherly hug. There’s also this really hardcore picture of Talia after a fight with ripped clothing and cuts and two bloody blades.

And yet again, they forgot that Tim lost his other best friend, Bart. Idiots. They only remember Bart when they need a grave for Superboy Prime to deface.

The Search for Ray Palmer: Red Son

I liked this. There was a nice homage to Wonder Woman’s history of being tied up. Both Donna and the Soviet Wonder Woman were tied up at different points in this. The art was a little funky, but it was still pretty cool.

My favorite part is when the Brainiac Robot thingy attacked Green Lantern with yellow because the original Brainiac from which the Brainia Robot was created said that that was the flaw, and Kyle said, "Your predecessor never met anyone like me, Brainiac. Yellow’s beautiful."

I don’t know why, but that scene made me really happy.

Wonder Woman #15

Gail Simone’s book! The whole Diana Prince has no superpowers thing is a little weird, but Gail’s actually handling it pretty well. I like that it shows how Diana’s hardcore and awesome even without her powers. And I liked that the Gorillas are still in her apartment.

Dodson art was, of course, gorgeous, and the weird origin stuff was pretty cool too. I also like the Kane Miohai dude, even though I’m not entirely sure who he is. He’s a pretty sexy god, though. And, apparently, Polynesian. The other god cameos were cool too.

I don’t really have anything else to say except to add, yet again, that I really, really want Gail to write me a series. If by any amazing twist of fate she’s reading this, then yeah, that’s what I want. Or maybe Santa Claus. Santa? Series? I’d take a miniseries, even! I’ve been good!

Booster Gold #5

Babs is the coolest, most awesomest, amazingest Batgirl ever, and Batman knows it. This could have been really, really good. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t nearly as good as it could have been.

It ended up being a “Let’s watch Booster fail to save Babs over and over again” fest. Stupid. Really stupid. Especially as the excuse for why it wasn’t working was so…no. I’m sorry…but it’s a “fixed event” so it can’t change? How come the bad guys don’t get that? Shouldn’t Booster be changing the past just by being there?

bluefall posted scans from this comic at scans_daily. I liked her idea of what could have happened better. Basically, she said that what should have happened is Booster did manage to save Babs, then goes back to the present and sees a terrible future. In it, Babs does have working legs, but maybe, like, all the heroes are dying.

Wait, that’s pretty much the same as current DCU.

Whatever, point is, it’s a much worse future, and he finds Babs who tells him to go back and fix time, and he does and it’s terrible and hard. But it would show the reasons you’re not supposed to mess with the timestream.

I also didn’t like that Rip tortured the Rex dude. GOOD GUYS DON’T TORTURE PEOPLE! Except in 24, but that’s beside the point. I hated that and it shouldn’t have happened because you can’t trust information gotten through torture. Stupid.

Because I don’t want to end this on a bad note, the last page? AMAZING! It’ll be a Blue Beetle team up with Booster Gold! Though I didn’t like Jaime’s weird goatee. He always has one, sure, but usually it’s less huge.

And who is the other Beetle?

Wonder Girl #4

I HATE THIS ART! I HATE THIS ART! I HATE THIS ART! SO MUCH! I HAVE SO MUCH HATRED FOR THIS ART!

Ok, anyone want to guess how I feel about the art here?

It’s actually really annoying because I think if the art wasn’t so sucktastic, I’d really like it. I mean, Wonder Girl’s cool, and I love the Young Justice cameos. I don’t really know who this Olympian dude is, but he seems pretty cool. And the story’s interesting enough to make me come back despite the eye-gouging art.

That brings me to the next thing…CISSIE! I like Cissie. She’s a pretty kickin’ girl. One of the cool things about her is that despite everything, she’s never put the costume back on.

Now, I like Arrowette too. More heroes need to use bubble bath arrows. I suggested bubble bath batarangs to Oracle, and she told me to never, ever talk if I got within hearing distance of Batman.

So I’m a little mixed here. As much as I love Arrowette, Cissie didn’t put the costume back on to help Anita get the guys who killed her parents. She even went off planet to help, but only as Cissie King-Jones, not as Arrowette. It really isn’t very in character for her to become Arrowette again. Even if it is cool. And that bugs me a little.

Empress, though, never quit. Seeing her back in action is 100% awesome. Even if the art sucks.

Green Arrow/Black Canary #3

This was at the bottom of my pile, but I moved the Bat Lash one down to end on a good note. Why? Because I HATE JUDD WINICK! ALMOST AS MUCH AS I HATE WONDER GIRL ART!

Mia sucks at being subtle. Everyman can’t get it on. Even for Dinah.

Yes, that part sucked too. I like Dinah a lot. She’s one of my favorite people. And sure, I know that she’s hot and wears fishnets. I also know that she has more than half a brain. The fact that she was shocked that Everyman could not get it up even for her is just stupid. Really, Dinah, it was nothing personal. And the fact that Everyman decided to kill her for it is even dumber.

Dinah, please, please, please come back to the Birds of Prey. We’re far cooler than Ollie. And none of us have ugly beards.

And they killed Connor! There better be more to it than there seems to be. I hate when they kill cool people off.

Two good things about this comic, though. The art is beautiful, and I do like that they mentioned Ollie’s underwear. They sort of promised it last month, and I’m glad they followed through.

Bat Lash #1

Now, this was a kickass comic! I think that people named Bartholomew are pretty much automatically awesome. I mean, okay, I really don’t have many people to base it off of, but I like this Bat Lash dude, and I liked Bart Allen, and I probably would have liked Barry Allen but he was before my time. So yeah.

This was cool! It had Cowboys and Indians! And evil, corrupt sheriffs! And beautiful gals! And cowboys who read Keats! And pretty art!

Yeeeeeee.

And now I reopen the entry window, and guess what? My original entry's back! Too bad for it. I'm using this one now. I hate computers.

Why I hate the internet.

So I was working on this weeks reviews and let me tell you, I had a lot to say, and then I tried to upload a picture and it all went kablooie. Now my hour or so of work is for nothing. I've lost everything I wrote, and although I'd bet Oracle could get it back somehow, she's too busy to help me with things like this that are CLEARLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN SILLY CRIME THINGS! Point is, reviews this week will probably end up happening tomorrow. Sorry, folks!

Review!

This week totally loses the comics prize. Seriously, it was like comics from Hell. I mean, yuck.

I only bought four comics this week. Maybe I missed something good, but I’m not betting on it after what I did get.

Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #34
This comic didn’t suck. It was actually pretty cute. It had Flash Thompson being a little bit in love with Spider-Man and really, really not liking Peter Parker. Pete somehow finds himself the star player on his highschool’s baseball team, and Flash thinks he’s taking steroids. Also, Harry Osborn’s on the opposing team, and his dad’s one of those dads that stands on the sidelines and yells advice. He’s also the kind of dad that puts on a purple and green costume and tries to kill the players on the other team. You know, that kind of dad. It’s all very cute. Second best this week.

Robin #169
So, I’m a little confused. I always heard that Robin was smart, but here, it seems a lot like he’s doing some really stupid stuff. Like, you know, promising himself to Ra’s al Ghul in exchange for the lives of those he loves. I mean, how dumb is that? He literally said, “What right do I have to deny my loved ones a chance to live again? And what right do I have to live while they’re still dead?”

Idiot.

To be fair, he has lost a hell of a lot of people. So many people that even he seems to have lost count. “Mom and Dad. Conner. Stephanie.” Forgetting Bart, much? And also maybe Dana, though I’m still not sure exactly what happened to her.

I think Dixon’s taking this title over soon. Hopefully then it’ll stop sucking.

I still think Robin’s insanely hot, even if he’s an idiot, and I hope next week’s Robin vs. Nightwing will be cool. Last Nightwing was really good, so maybe?

Countdown Arena #1
The loser of the week. I wouldn’t have even bought it, except I totally love multiverse stuff. That’s why I’ll buy next week’s Arena.

What I don’t like is cool characters dying. Like Batman from Gotham by Gaslight. He was awesome! Jason Todd was gonna come back to him after finding Ray Palmer! Killing him was totally uncool! I wanted him to win! And I don’t know the purple Nightshade chicks, but I like them.

If Justice Riders Diana doesn’t win in the Wonder Woman competition, I might cry. So yeah, sucky. I’m still going to buy it. Or at least flip through it then put it away.

Or maybe I’ll completely skip it and instead read [Bad username: “Cissie_king”]’s Arrowette Arena. After all, there isn’t a Bollywood Superman competing in the “real” Arena. I’m sure he’d totally kick the other three Supermen’s asses if he were in it. And he’d do it all while singing!

Also, Bat-Adam would totally kick Vampire Batman’s ass.

The All New Atom #18
I was getting pretty sick of sucky comics, then I grabbed the last comic in my pile. The Atom. “Well,” thought I, “Gail Simone’s a good writer. She wrote this. Perhaps this will be the comic that saves the week!”

And lo and behold, it was!

I can’t even pick a favorite part, so I’ll just mention a couple.

First, the Atom is telling Wonder Woman all of the really weird things that go on around Ivy Town. One of the things he mentioned as a freaky and possibly supernatural thing in the town is that all the women and girls in Ivy Town find him attractive.

Diana tells him that he’s dead sexy. Yes, I paraphrase.

Later, Atom’s hit and Diana tells him to grab her girdle. Ryan grabs it, then starts babbling about all of the Wonder Woman fantasies he’s had. Diana just sort of takes it in stride, and asks him if he spends a lot of time on the internet.

Diana and Ryan’s pet head become buddies, and the town folks (who are possessed) decide to burn Ryan.

Ryan isn’t too afraid for his life that he can’t take the time to admire the Ted Grant Grease-Grabbin’ Grill they’ve decided to use in lieu of a bonfire.

“Flesh is…starting to burn. Still have to…admire…flexibility…of patented…non-stick coating.”

Diana also pulls an atom-sized Justice League chair out of her “Eagle.” Seriously, I want Gail to write my series. I love her that much.

I also liked the art here. I have absolutely no art knowledge, but I rate it 'really pretty'.

Comic Reviews!

Wow, what a week! Do you have any idea how annoying it is when one of the titles you actually look forward to is sold out? I mean, for the most part, I’ll bounce into this great little comic book store, look at everything that’s new and pick out anything that looks interesting, but there are some titles that I look forward to. Birds of Prey is one for obvious reasons, and Teen Titans. This week, one of my favorite titles, Blue Beetle, was sold out! And the guy told me that they wouldn’t get more for like, two weeks! Yeah, there’s no way I could wait that long. Instead, I decided to bounce to this other comic book store, but I couldn’t get there for a few days, so I haven’t managed to finish reading everything until now.

On the bright side, now the comic store guy knows I like Blue Beetle. He’s good about putting stuff aside if he knows someone who really, really likes it is gonna show up, and I’m pretty sure he knows who I am. I mean, I don’t know how many people show up in the middle of the store in a flash of purplish light and wear a mask, but I kind of doubt it’s a lot.

Blue Beetle #21
Like I said, this is a series that I look forward to every month. Jaime is just that awesome. I mean, it isn’t like Blue Beetle doesn’t have a little bit of angst, but in general, it’s about a teenager who happens to have a buttload of powers. He’s got the Spectre showing up and killing criminal people, but he doesn’t wanna call his girlfriend about it because he feels like he only calls her when he’s fighting supernatural people. How awesome is this guy? And his family knows about his powers and stuff, and if they aren’t psyched about it, at least they’re okay with it. Basically, there are no words for how much I love this series. It is that awesome.

That being said, this issue wasn’t anything special. I enjoyed it a lot because, you know, Jaime, but it wasn’t my favorite ever. Traci Thirteen showed up and chatted with Jaime, and that was fun. If I ever get my Chicks of Prey together, I’m adding Traci to the line-up. She’s pretty awesome. And there were some cool moments where the Scarab armor was all “LET’S KILL EVERYONE!” And Jaime’s like, “No! We don’t do that!” and it seems like that might get to be important. So yeah. It wasn’t the most amazing issue ever, but it definitely had it’s good points.

Jack of Fables #17
I have so much love for this series. Jack is such an ass, but he’s kind of cute. I’m sort of curious to see where this Americana thing’s gonna go. I’ve sort of on-and-off followed this series, so I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, but I like the whole Paul Bunyan and Babe bit. I read about Paul Bunyan awhile ago, so it’s cool to read about him here.

Batman #671
Meh. They could have done so much with the whole making Batman choose between Robin and Damien thing. I mean, clearly I don’t want either of them to die, but they could have done something cool that left bad feelings all around or something. As it was, the whole “You Must Choose” thing was more of a cliffhanger than anything else. It would have been cool if Batman had chosen one of them. I mean, imagine this:

RA’S AL GHUL: Well, Batman? Which will it be? Robin, your adopted son, or Damian, your child by my daughter?

BATMAN: *Has a brilliant plan.*

ROBIN AND DAMIAN: *Don’t know it.*

RA’S AL GHUL: Choose quickly, Batman.

BATMAN: Use Robin, if you have to use one of them.

ROBIN: *betrayed* Batman!

RA’S AL GHUL: So the ties of flesh and blood are stronger. Very well, I shall use Robin’s body.

NIGHTWING: *Leaps from the shadows and starts thwacking ninjas.*

ROBIN: *Punches his captor.*

DAMIAN: *Runs away with Talia*

BATMAN, ROBIN, NIGHTWING: *Kick ass*

A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER STUFF: *Happens*

Cut to a time when the action is at least temporarily over and Robin and Batman are chatting. Maybe Alfred’s brought them some tea.

ROBIN: You chose Damian over me.

BATMAN: I knew Nightwing was about to show up. You were in no danger.

ROBIN: It was still a risk. How did you know they wouldn’t cut my throat right then?

BATMAN: I trusted that you were more able to get out of the situation than Damian was.

ROBIN: *Feels hurt and betrayed despite the fact that Batman had a brilliant plan.*

Now, I’m definitely not a fan of giving Robin more angst to deal with, but at least it would have been something. If they weren’t going to do anything with the choice, why have it at all? They could have had Batman bursting in when Ra’s is about to do the Sacred Ceremony of Sacredness that would let him body jump into Damian and Batman being all “WAIT! There’s this fountain thingy I can get you to!” But instead they put in a dopey cliffhanger that lead nowhere.

As far as the rest of it went, I’m not totally sure. I found it kind of hard to follow, and the art sucked. So yeah, kind of a letdown.

Gotham Underground #2
Okay, this review definitely has Spoilers.

Or, more accurately, Spoiler, because OH MY GOD! EEEEEEEEE!

I’d seen the solicits, I knew it was coming, and I know it’s not Spoiler, it’s that Violet chick who’s going to cause trouble for Robin, but STILL. I’ve been reading through old Robin comics, and I literally squeaked when I saw that panel. Oracle gave me a funny look.

Also, since when has the Ventriloquist been a girl? Did I miss something?

I enjoyed the scene where the fat guy who’s trying to become a crime lord and tells the guy who’s questioning him that he doesn’t want him to be that guy who’s killed to be made an example of because it’s clichéd. Seriously, awesome. I think I like this villain.

Nightwing the criminal lackey is sexy. But then again, what else is new?

Superman/Batman #43
I bought this mostly because the solicit showed the original five Titans attacking in it. I thought it’d be like, alternate universe Titans or something. Turned out to be just an illusion. How lame is that? I guess this was okay besides that. Batman defeated Doctor Light by turning out the lights.

X-Men: First Class #6
This title doesn’t take place in the real world. It’s about the X-Men. I like the X-Men because they’re like me. Born with their powers. Of course, no one really persecutes me for having mutant powers. So I’m glad I’m not in the Marvel Universe.

In this issue, the X-Men have lost their powers! Scott’s all happy because he doesn’t need to wear glasses or a visor to keep his energy beam from going off, but Warren’s really sad because his wings fell off. It turns out that it might be from this meteor that had some Krytonite that flew out of it. At least, it totally looked like Kryptonite.

What makes this totally worth reading is the short Marvel Girl and Scarlet Witch thingy in the middle. They have it in a lot of the X-Men: First Class It’s a cutesy comic about Marvel Girl and Jean Greay hanging out together and fighting crime. The art is sort of cartoonish, but nice. It looks a lot like the art in some webcomics I’ve seen. Very pretty. And the stories are always funny.

Teen Titans #53
It just goes to show you. You can take away my costume. You can take away my code name. You can take away my good guy status. You can even take away my hair color. But you can’t take away my catchphrase! DARRRRRRK VENNNNGEANNCE!

Yes, I am an evil blond Huntress in this. I know I’ve mentioned that it’d be cool to be a Titan here, but I didn’t mean an evil Titan! I think the only reason I’m mentioned at all is because Sean McKeever’s writing Teen Titans and Birds of Prey so he knows who I am and all of that. It’s still pretty cool, though. Especially since I didn’t show up in this month’s Birds of Prey.

Still, I don’t like the stupid blond hair thing. Apparently, McKeever did that on purpose, so that makes me think we’ll see more of evil me next issue and he’ll explain it. I hope so. I like reading about myself.

Onto the rest of the issue. There was emo Robin. I can’t tell if he killed the guy or just moped. He’s definitely moping, but I don’t know if it’s because he broke the “no killing” rule or because his evil future self is exuding accumulated angst to add to Robin’s already hefty amount of angst.

Jaime is still awesome. I’m so psyched that he’s joining the Titans! That means I’ll get to read about him twice a month! Though it will be in the same week, which is annoying. I hope he’s got something he can pull out of his sleeve pretty quickly because now all of the Titans are controlled by Starro and about to attack him.

I’m loving this arc. One thing I wish they’d do more of is deal with the emotional impact of it all. I mean, seeing Bart and Kon, even their evil future clones, has got to be pretty painful. The only acknowledgement of the pain thing was from Wally, and it was barely anything.

Also, anyone else think it’s pretty funny that there are evil future clones of Bart and Kon? I mean, one’s from the future to begin with and one’s a clone, and both of them have evil clones. Seems pretty redundant to me.

Teen Titans Go! #49
RAVAGER! RAVAGER! RAVAGER!

I liked this. The newest Titanish person in this series is Rose, AKA Ravager! Who has two good eyes, but still wears a one eyed mask. Go fig.

I pretty much always like this series, and this was no exception. One thing I would have liked, though, would have been for them to have spent a little more time convincing her to be good. As it was, the conversation pretty much went like this:

RAVAGER: I’m going to kill you all because Daddy would have wanted me to!

ROBIN: You don’t have to do this.

RAVAGER: But Daddy’s evil!

RAVEN: My dad’s worse.

RAVAGER: But I’m evil!

JINX: I’m a recovering evil-aholic. Having sex with a speedster on a regular basis helps.

RAVAGER: Okay, I’ll go good, then. Hi, I’m Rose.

TITANS: Hi, Rose! Now we can trust you completely!

ROBIN: I have a good feeling about this.

ROSE: I was promised Speedster sex! Where’s Bart?

A little more of the Rose/Titans interaction and less of the Rose-goes-ballistic-looking-for-Daddy’s-stuff scenes would have been better. As it was, it seemed rushed at the end. And I’d have liked to see all of the Titans, not just Robin, try to take her before someone calmed them down and got them to use their words.

Movie review!

Has anyone else seen Enchanted? I saw it, and it was great!

It was adorable. parts were animated, but most was real life, and there were, like, two worlds. It made fun of musicals and fairytales in the best possible way, and the music was great! My favorite part was when Giselle (the princess) started singing a big musical number and everyone in New York just started joining in, starting with some reggae guys. It was amazing, and everyone should see it.

Comics for November 21, 2007

So every week when I go to the comic book store, I always pick out way more books than I can actually get, and then I sort of narrow it down and put a bunch of them away. Except this week, I forgot to put Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century away. Whoops!

Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century #8

This book's just generally adorable. This issue was all about Triplicate Girl who can, of course, be in three places at once. She goes on a date with bouncing boy and they have a lot of fun, and also she goes somewhere with a guy pretending to be Superman who's actually this other dude. I like the art, which is pretty cartoony but in a good way, and the writing's decent. I'm still not entirely sure what happened, but it wasn't bad.

Catwoman #73

Catwoman's gonna be bad again? That sucks. I liked her good. I mean, I guess she'll be a pretty kickass baddie too, but...eh.

The Calculator looks different here than when Babs dated him.

So yeah, not much to say one way or the other. It wasn't particularly bad or good.

Countdown Presents: The Search for Ray Palmer: Gotham by Gaslight.

Earth 19! I like this Earth, though the issue itself wasn't particularly awesome. The cover art was weird and they didn't seem able to decide what Jason's mask looks like. And the Bob the monitor called Kyle Jason. Which was odd.

On the plus side, Gotham by Gaslight Blue Beetle is AWESOME! This issue was worth it, just for him.

The Spirit #11

I love this series! I mean, the art is so cool. Not realistic, but really, really good. And the stories are shiny. I missed the first part of this ark, but I still could pretty much get what was going on. The Spirit and this dead guy are fighting because they both died together, and there's intrigue and the Spirit trying to save people and his girlfriend and her gay ex-fiance trying to get the dead guy's mom to make him dead again, and okay, maybe I couldn't really follow what was going on. I still liked it, though!

Birds of Prey #112

Big Barda memorial issue. Poor Barda! I liked her, you know. She had a mega rod. I mean, how awesome can you get?

Anyways, there were a bunch of problems I found with this issue.

First, and most important, I WASN'T IN IT! A Birds of Prey comic without me in it? Lame!

Second, Why was Dinah wearing a mask on the first page? Dinah never wears a mask. I don't think she even has a secret identity!

Other than that, this was pretty good. I loved Zinda's wacky hijinks, and it was sweet of her to go to CA to post Barda's picture on the wall, and I loved the cab driver. All in all, it was a decent issue.

I still think I should have been in it.

Batman Detective Comics #838

Most of this issue was sort of not much happening. Blah, blah, Ra's offers Tim his parents back but Tim's a good guy, blah, Batman and Talia flirting. Blah, Damian running off to save his neck. Blah, odd art that doesn't really match the text. But this page? Makes it all work.

Alfred >>>> Ubu! But we all knew that already anyways.

At the end, Batman has to choose between Tim and Damian because one will die and one will become Ra's Al Ghul, and he better pick Tim, I'm sorry, but c'mon.

Probably he'll find a way to save both, though.

The Flash #234

This issue had good points and bad. It was a fast read, as always, which is kind of ironic. Iris West likes Kim Possible, apparently. And Jai West can turn into a mutant freak. But he isn't weird!

The best part was the end, where they're doing the Flashes-go-to-alien-world-with-camels thing. There was an Iris and Barry story, and it was pretty nifty. Even better, next week it's the Flash and Impulse in the alien world!

Invincible #46

A title I sort of just randomly picked up, but I think I'll like it. The art is good, and the characters so far seem pretty neat. I'm going to keep reading it, I think.

I also got a free preview thingy from Ultimate Marvel. That was fun. I love free stuff.

Artemis Fowl

Anyone else ever read the Artemis Fowl books? Anyone? Anyone? <strike>Bueller?</strike>

There's a graphic novel out now, and I read it. The novels are pretty cool, Eoin Colfer writes wicked good characters, and the graphic novel was pretty much the same story with one important difference.

The art sucked.

I've decided that some books should remain books. I liked the entire series more before I saw how the loser who drew this book pictured them.

I’ve got this great idea that I want to pitch to Oracle. Cause, you see, I love Helena and Babs and Zinda and all the rest, but they’re all a little old for me. So I’ve been thinking, on and off, that I should start my own shoot off team!

We could call it Chicks of Prey. It’s got the whole bird theme, but it’s younger. I think I’ve mentioned it before.

I’d be on it, of course, as the leader. The other members…hmm.

I’ve decided that all of the people who may have died in Titans East are only stunned because there are only so many heroes out there my age. Ok, Powerboy is pretty dead, but he isn’t a girl anyways so ha!

That being said, I’m recruiting Hawk and Dove. They’ve got cool costumes and they can fly, so that’ll be a total asset to the team. Little Barda can join too. She’s got a frickin’ megarod. Anima can join up too.

I heard Arrowette’s tried to join the Outsiders, but it didn’t work out so well. If she wanted to be on my team, that would be awesome! She’d need a new haircut, though, because the one she has as of Wonder Girl sort of sucks. No offense, Cissie! Otherwise, Speedy could join. Because for some reason, every team has to have someone who can shoot arrows at some point. Seriously, though, what’s up with that? I mean, not that it isn’t cool, but you wouldn’t think of it as, like, a necessary power for any team. Super strength, maybe. Teleportation or speed, maybe, but arrows? Just doesn’t make sense.

As for other members, Empress doesn’t seem to be doing much these days. Everyone can use a Voodoo Priestess slash whatever the hell Anita does on the team! Though again, needs a makeover after the Wonder Girl series.

Right now my team has four possibly dead girls, one retired girl, one girl who’s busy raising her parents, Speedy and me. Huh.

Maybe we can get Ravager to join.

I’m mad at Wonder Girl right now for ruining Anita and Cissie’s hair, so she isn’t invited.

Miss Martian can come, though. I mean, the only problem with Miss Martian and Ravager is that they’re on the Teen Titans right now, but come on, Teen Titans or Chicks of Prey? We’ll be so much cooler!

So, yeah, I’m going to talk to Oracle about it.

Comics, November 14, 2007

So where to even begin?

This was a pretty kickin' week. I liked almost everything I got, or at least, liked some of it.

Wonder Woman #14

Gail Simone's Wonder Woman! YES! This was as awesome as I'd hoped. She had frickin' gorillas! In her house! Oh, Gail, will you please come back to Birds of Prey? Or even better, give me my own series? Or write a Speedy/Misfit Team-Up series? (Um, I'll discuss that later.)

So, yeah, I loved this. Diana kicked ass while staying totally cool. Gorillas partying in Diana Prince's flat and hiding when that dude she likes showed up. Tresser, that's his name. They also drank beer. Babs tells me I'm too young for beer, but gorillas can have it? So unfair.

And oh! I think Etta Candy's making a comeback! How cool is that? There was a Lt. Colonel Candy who seemed, first of all, a little pudgy, and second of all, totally awesome, which makes me think...please be Etta Candy? Cause all the old stuff I've read about her seems totally awesome.

Fables #67

This one doesn't take place in the real world, of course, and I haven't been really following Fables so it was a little hard for me to figure out what's happening. But the frog prince AKA King Ambrose AKA Flycatcher is pretty cool. He's all magic and shit and not killing trolls when he can and instead taking them into his kingdom and having ghosts attack people.

...I think it'd make more sense if I knew what was going on.

All Star Superman #9

Suspension bridge staples. That's all I can say about that.

Nightwing #138

More Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul. Now I finally see that Damian's a brat! Thanks, Robin people, for making me think he was a nice kid who Robin was beating on!

This issue was awesome. I don't know who Fabian Nicieza is, but he should write Nightwing every week. The three chick villains who he fought complimented his butt! During a fight! And he was all, yeah, I know I'm hot. And they used the Giant Penny to smush ninjas! And lawn tasers!

Seriously, how could Babs have let that boy go? He's frickin' sexy.

Booster Gold #4

So, turns out that <strike>Darth Vader</strike> Supernova's Booster's dad. Huh, didn't see that coming. But as usual I loved this. Even if Geoff Johns is writing it. Skeets saying crap is the best thing ever, and the Blue Beetle cross-generational team-up seems to have begun! Yay! I think it might be, like, a grown-up Jaime or something there, because he was sort of big.

And they're gonna try and save Babs! Apparently she wasn't supposed to become Oracle.

I dunno how I feel about this. On the one hand, it totally sucks that she was paralyzed. On the other, Oracle is so totally kickass! And I'm on her team! If Oracle vanishes, what happens to me?

<strike>Luckily</strike> <strike>unfortunately</strike> It probably won't happen, though.

Green Arrow and Black Canary #2

Unlike Wedding Special and Green Arrow/Black Canary One, this issue actually didn't suck. Dinah kicked a lot of ass, and that was fun, and the whole underwear deal was cool. At the end they decided never to speak of the underwear switcharoo ever again, followed by the words "Next: DEALBREAKER!" Which makes me think they're gonna speak about it more? I don't know. Guess I'll find out in a month.

And Mia was awesome. She was really pissy, but she basically accused all of the Amazons of being lesbians. This is what I meant by us having a team up. Misfit and Speedy would make a great team, especially if Gail Simone wrote us! C'mon, am I right?

Titans East Special #1

Judd Winick is a total tool. He may have gotten Black Canary right once, but this sucked. The original Titan story was cool, but we've got these characters, and I liked some of them, and we just sort of have a LETS WATCH PEOPLE WHO WE AREN'T SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT DIE! Which is boring. I mean, I get it that we're preparing for a new series about the original Titans, but they could've let Hawk and Dove live. I like Hawk and Dove. I wanted Oracle to let me invite them onto a junior Birds of Prey team. We could have called it Chicks of Prey. Wonder Girl and Supergirl and Ravager could have joined too, if they wanted. But no, they seem somewhat deceased.

Wonder Girl #3

Okay, I really, really want to like this. The writing's pretty good, and there are Young Justice cameos like woah, but the art makes me want to burn my eyeballs out! I mean, guh! When did Kon become asian? And Cissie and Anita both have awful hair! And the faces are all wrong! I just. Don't. Like. It.

But the fact that Cissie and Anita actually exist in this, horrible art or not, made this fun. I heart Young Justice cameos. This time they had two whole pages, too!

Comics, comics, comics!

It's time for my AWESOME comic reviews!

This week I finally said screw it, and skipped Countdown. All that's interesting in there's Piper and Trickster, anyways. If I'm wrong, someone tell me so I can pick it up again at some point?

The All New Atom #17

This is written by Gail Simone, so of course, I expect total awesomeness. I mean, it sucks that she isn't writing my series anymore, but it's fun to read her other work.

So Ryan AKA the Atom is having all these problems cause everyone keeps on figuring out his secret identity. I totally don't have that problem anymore, cause all of my friends are superheroes now too. Maybe when I have to get a job or something in the real world, but hey, that'll take ages.

Anyways, he's got a girlfriend that also happens to be a supervillain. Ryan knows this, because a while ago she ate him. Yeah, I don't quite get it either. Anyways! His girlfriend's Giganta, and Wonder Woman shows up and is like, hey, Ryan, we're gonna wire you now so that we can keep an eye on your girl, and he's like...wow, hot woman, okay sure.

Then he gets all romantic and won't let Wonder Woman beat the crap out of Giganta. Except she vanishes then and they're doing something to the town now which will be bad.

Yeah, it was cool. Art's pretty too.

Superman #670

Wait, Superman actually has robot Supermans? I thought that was all Pre-Crisis crack!

Except the one that killed Donna Troy. Um, sort of killed her. Yeah, I don't get that either.

So I sort of liked this. I mean Karsta Wor-Ul is really awesome. She's like, a Kryptonian without the Boyscout aspect. She is so much more hardcore than Superman, Supergirl, Power Girl, Krypto, and Chris Kent put together. So much more hard core.

So, of course, they have to take this total badass and make her turn herself in. LAME! We're not gonna see her again now for I dunno how long, but too long.

And they made Kandor go boom. That sucks.

Y: The Last Man #59

I liked this so much more before it started ending. Now 355's dead and she was all lying about why they were doing stuff and it kinda sucks.

Venus #1

This story doesn't take place in my world. It's by Bluewater Comics. It was sorta cool. That Venus chick is a bitch though. Even if she does make people fall in love with her. Fun to read, I guess.

The Search For Ray Palmer: Red Rain

Dude, vampires! And Dick killed Babs! That was uncool of him, even if she was trying to suck his blood. She's Babs, even if she's a different universe Babs, so she probably had a really good reason for it.

Winner of the Week: Robin #168

I don't care how well written this comic is or anything. Robin is freaking hot.

And Alfred's a badass.

So basically, Tim's going all angsty and batty, and who can blame him, I mean, c'mon, EVERYONE HE LOVES DIES. And Damien wants to chat with his daddy, but Tim's like SCREW THAT LET'S FIGHT!

So they fight, and Tim doesn't believe Damien when he tells Tim that Ra's Al Ghul wants Damien's body. Tim doesn't believe that a nice old guy like Ra's Al Ghul would want to rape...oh, wait, he thinks Ra's Al Ghul is dead and he wants to steal Damien's body, my bad.

Then Damien semi accidentally knocks Tim out and goes upstairs to find Batman, except Alfred scares him and is all nice and caring when he sees who it is. Then Tim comes up and is like NO! GET AWAY FROM ALFRED! Because he doesn't realize what's going on, and they fight, and when it ends there are a lot of ninjas sneaking up on Wayne manor and TIM IS TRYING TO KILL DAMIEN!

DUN DUN DUN!

Ok, I know it's a cartoon and not a comic or whatever, but I just watched the Legion Of Superheroes in the Thirty-First Century episode called Karate Kid and come on, Nemesis Kid? Three guesses for who's gonna be the next traitor to the team!

MISFIT REVIEWS COMICS!

Yeah, so there are kind of tons of comics out there, so I just picked a couple of the ones that I thought looked good and started reading them.

Okay, I kind of got the ones with the prettiest covers. And the one with Batman on it, cause he's almost as cool as Babs is.

Countdown to Final Crisis 26

Who are all the guys with weird hair? This series is kind of boring. Last issue was sort of interesting, but come on. We need more Trickster and Piper and less Monitors!

Batman 670

Batman is so hardcore. That lady's like "Oh look how sexy I am with my pheromones or some shit," and he's like, "Ha, bitch!" and sprays her with gas!

Who's this Damian kid, though?

Robin Annual 7

You know who's even cooler than Batman? Tim. Or is that cuter? Cause man, Batman is just sorta LOOK HOW DARK AND SCARY I AM while Tim's all I AM ROBIN, HERE ME ROAR or whatever. Anyways, Robin, yeah. That villain was kinda creepy. I didn't buy comics to look at guts literally spilling out of people! EWWW! And that Damian kid again! I think I've gotta use Wikipedia now.

Wait, Batman's kid is Damian? That's so weird. That's just like, beyond weird. Eww, totally do not want to think about Batman procreating. I wonder if Babs knows about this. She probably does cause she's like, freaky smart.

Teen Titans Go! 48

You know, if Blue Beetle can join the Titans, why can't I? I mean, it's really awesome being with the Birds of Prey, but it'd also be cool to hang out with the Titans since they're closer to my age and everything. That's beside the point, though, since this is an alternate universe Teen Titans.

Anyways, this was a mega-cool issue. It had, like, alternate universe Titans, and Young Justice cameos, and original Titans cameos, and Arsenal and Tempest and Red Robin. It was pretty awesome.

And Doctor Light was in it! Like, the good one who's a girl, not the bad guy who's stopped being dopey!

So yeah, that was fun. I can't wait for Birds of Prey to come out so I can review that, cause that one's got me in it and I am so totally awesome. It's also got Babs in it and she is cooler than Batman, so yeah, can't wait for that.

Welcome to the Super Secret Awesome Diary of Misfit!

Except I might let other people read it, like Babs, because she's really cool.

I guess I can talk about my day. Did you know I totally saved Babs' ass last week? I'm just that good!
